What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success first and foremost to God and the unwavering faith that has guided me through every season of my journey. My relationship with God has been the foundation of my strength, purpose, and resilience. I’ve also been incredibly blessed to have mentors who poured into me, offered wisdom, and helped shape my personal and professional growth. Their guidance, combined with hard work and dedication, has led to meaningful milestones in my career, including receiving the 15-Year Service Award and the “Above and Beyond” award at Progressive Community Health. These honors reflect not just my commitment to service, but also the grace and support I’ve received along the way.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Your voice matters. Speak up and always maintain a high level of professionalism. Don't hesitate to take credit for the hard work you do; your contributions deserve recognition. While not everyone may agree with your perspective, stand firm and be confident in your knowledge and experience. Always back your assertions with solid evidence – a prepared mind can deflect unwarranted criticism. By staying informed and ready, you allow your expertise to truly stand out.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Embrace the power of your voice. You never know whose life you might touch or whose path you might alter with your words and actions. Your influence is a potent force, capable of inspiring or discouraging in ways you may never fully grasp. Remember the timeless wisdom of Proverbs 18:21 KJV: 'Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.' Therefore, consider not just what you say, but how you say it, as wisdom often lies in the delivery.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
My primary challenge is elevating the visibility of my business. Having always worked behind the scenes, I'm now focused on actively marketing and showcasing my services. Complementing this is the need for working capital, as I'm currently bootstrapping the venture with personal savings. This limits my ability to fully invest in crucial areas like expanded marketing campaigns and participation in community events. The significant opportunity lies in my business model itself: I provide conventional, convenient, and highly efficient services through an unconventional and unique approach. This distinct delivery method allows me to serve a broader clientele, including those who might otherwise lack access, and crucially, it saves companies and their employees valuable time and productivity by minimizing workplace interruptions through onsite service. Overcoming the current hurdles of visibility and working capital will directly enable me to maximize the inherent market opportunity of my unique service. With more robust marketing and dedicated funds, I can reach more underserved clients and expand my onsite offerings, truly scaling my impact.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me, both professionally and personally, are faith, respect, integrity, consistency, work-life balance, and dedication. For me, these aren't just abstract concepts; they are the interconnected pillars that define who I am and how I operate. I strive for complete consistency across all facets of my life, meaning the person you encounter in a professional setting is the exact same individual I am with my family or in private. This unwavering authenticity, deeply rooted in my faith and a profound sense of integrity, is what truly grounds me and fuels my commitment to serving others. My belief in respect guides every interaction, fostering environments where diverse perspectives are valued. This, combined with dedication to my commitments, ensures I always strive for excellence. Crucially, I also prioritize work-life balance, recognizing it's essential for sustained performance, well-being, and ultimately, for showing up as my best self, ready to contribute meaningfully. This holistic approach to my values isn't just a choice; it's a deeply ingrained principle, instilled in me from a young age: to always be my best self, regardless of the setting or company. It's this continuous pursuit of excellence and genuine character that empowers me to make a positive impact and truly serve those around me.
