Rodneysha Brooks is a true Southern belle, born and raised in Alabama, where she balances motherhood, career, and everything in between. She is a devoted mother to one son and a dog mom to a toy poodle who keeps her household full of personality. Outside of work, Rodneysha enjoys cooking, exercising, and binge-watching TV shows or movies when she needs to unwind.
She holds a Bachelor of Science from Alabama State University and an MBA from The University of Alabama. Rodneysha’s career in Human Resources began during her undergraduate years, and what started as an early interest in people and workplace dynamics has grown into over eight years of experience across technology, government, nonprofit, and startup environments.
As a Human Resources and People Operations leader, Rodneysha focuses on building people-first, compliant, and scalable HR practices that support both business goals and employee success. Her expertise spans the full employee lifecycle, including talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, compliance, and HRIS administration. She partners closely with leaders to navigate complex workforce challenges, drive operational efficiency, and align people strategies with organizational growth in both domestic and global environments.

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Rodneysha often reflects on the advice of her mother: “Stay true to your values, even when it’s uncomfortable. Titles, roles, and opportunities will come and go, but your integrity and reputation are what follow you throughout your career. Making decisions that align with who you are — not just what looks good on paper — ultimately leads to more sustainable success and fulfillment.”

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

She also stresses the importance of trusting your instincts and leading with integrity. What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Rodneysha identifies the biggest challenge in HR as balancing people advocacy with business realities. She supports employees through personal and emotional moments while advising leadership on decisions driven by budgets, risk, and organizational growth. Navigating this requires empathy, fairness, and integrity, particularly during times of change or high-pressure situations.
She also embraces the need to adapt to a fast-changing workplace, from new technologies to evolving labor laws, all while keeping the human element at the center. For Rodneysha, successfully managing this balance is one of the most rewarding aspects of HR, allowing her to empower people, influence organizational culture, and make a meaningful impact across teams and organizations.
