Rae' Strongs
Rae’Quel (Rae’) Strongs is a seasoned accounting professional with a strong track record in financial management and operational leadership. She currently serves as AP Lead Accountant at the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, where she oversees accounts payable operations, ensures regulatory compliance, reconciles activity to the general ledger, and supports month-end and fiscal year-end closings. Rae’Quel’s expertise spans general ledger accounting, payroll, account reconciliation, and process improvement, making her a trusted resource for financial accuracy and internal controls in public and private sector organizations.
A proud graduate of Mid-America Christian University, Rae’Quel earned both her Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and an MBA with a CPA Accounting emphasis, graduating with a 3.91 GPA and recognition from the Sigma Beta Delta Honor Society. Over the course of her career, she has held diverse accounting roles, including positions at American Fidelity, Dobson Fiber, and the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services, where she contributed to financial reporting, payroll management, and fixed asset oversight.
Beyond her technical skills, Rae’Quel is passionate about mentorship, professional development, and community engagement. My advice to young women entering this industry is to show up for yourself every day and prioritize self-care.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in my field is navigating situations where I may feel over- or under-qualified or working with people who don’t seem to support me. The greatest opportunity, however, is witnessing women grow in the industry and achieve leadership roles like CEO or CFO, which shows that as women, we can accomplish anything.

The values most important to me in my work and personal life are being genuine and truly loving what I do.
