Mary Marty LeBlanc is an experienced educator based in Fayetteville, Tennessee, dedicated to inspiring the next generation of STEM leaders. She has served for over 13 years at Lincoln County Schools, where she teaches engineering, computer science, and mathematics through hands-on, problem-based learning. Marty also coaches multiple high school robotics teams, including FIRST Robotics and VEX VRC teams, guiding students in developing technical skills, teamwork, and creative problem-solving abilities. Her dedication to STEM education has earned her recognition as a 2025–2026 Department of Defense STEM Ambassador.

Marty’s teaching philosophy centers on connecting classroom learning to real-world applications. She emphasizes perseverance, innovation, and the importance of providing students in rural and Title I communities with access to STEM pathways. Beyond the classroom, she has led students on international trips to countries like Germany, the Czech Republic, and Poland, offering them exposure to global STEM opportunities. Marty also integrates technology and engineering concepts into her curriculum, ensuring students gain both practical skills and career awareness.

Before her career in education, Marty spent nearly two decades in hotel and restaurant management and also worked as a certified surgical/instrument tech while in college. She holds a Master’s Degree in Secondary Education – Mathematics and a Bachelor’s in Mathematics from Troy University Dothan, where she was active in honor societies and the Math and Science Consortium. A committed lifelong learner, Marty continues to expand her expertise through certifications and professional memberships, including Onshape Educator Awards, PTC Education, Civil Air Patrol, and the Department of Defense STEM Ambassador program.

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this industry is to embrace opportunities, even when they feel a bit intimidating. Surround yourself with people who believe in you, and remember that confidence develops through action — real growth happens as you navigate the journey.
