What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is to keep an open mind. Staying receptive to new opportunities, perspectives, and experiences has allowed me to grow professionally, adapt to challenges, and discover paths I might not have considered otherwise.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
If you are not uncomfortable at times, you are probably not growing. This industry will challenge you to speak up, ask hard questions, and take up space before you feel fully ready—and that is part of the process.
Do not wait to feel “qualified enough” to start. Learn as you go, stay curious, and permit yourself to be new. Seek mentors, but also trust your own perspective—your voice and lived experience bring value that cannot be taught.
Most importantly, lead with integrity and empathy. Build relationships, not just a book of business. Confidence comes from action, not perfection, and every uncomfortable moment is an opportunity to strengthen your skills, your resilience, and your belief in yourself.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
- Constant regulatory change. Tax laws and insurance regulations evolve frequently, which means providers and clients alike must stay informed to avoid risk and seize benefits.
- Complexity and accessibility. Many people find financial systems intimidating and opaque, especially in underserved and neurodivergent communities. The challenge is bridging that gap with clear, compassionate education.
- Economic uncertainty. Market shifts, inflation, and changing employment patterns impact both insurance needs and tax planning strategies — requiring adaptable solutions and proactive guidance.
Opportunities:
- Education-first service models. There’s a growing demand for professionals who don’t just sell products, but educate clients — helping them understand why something matters and how to use it.
- Technology and personalization. Tools that help simplify planning, forecasting, and compliance are leveling the field and making financial confidence more accessible.
- Expanded community outreach. There’s an opportunity — and need — to partner with nonprofits, schools, and advocacy organizations to bring financial literacy to people who historically haven’t been served well.
- Holistic planning. Combining insurance protection with tax strategy creates stronger, more resilient financial plans for families and small business owners.
