Chelsea Lawson is a Corporate Senior Underwriter at Intact Insurance Specialty Solutions, where she plays a critical role in ensuring product compliance across multiple states. Chelsea’s career at Intact Insurance reflects steady growth and leadership, having advanced from Underwriting Associate to Underwriting Support Supervisor before her promotion to Corporate Senior Underwriter. As a supervisor, she managed and mentored a team of seven, led system and regulatory training initiatives, conducted audits and quality control reviews, and continuously refined workflows to adapt to regulatory changes. Her ability to bridge underwriting, compliance, and technology has made her a trusted resource across departments.
Prior to her insurance career, Chelsea built a strong foundation in financial services and risk management through roles at Member One Federal Credit Union, where she served as a BSA Analyst and held multiple operational positions. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Risk Management & Insurance from Old Dominion University and an Associate of Science in Business Administration from Virginia Western Community College. What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would tell young women not to be scared of the industry—there are many knowledgeable people willing to help you learn. The job security is strong, and the skills you gain are highly transferable, so even if one role ends, there will always be another opportunity.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are family, curiosity, and balance—being a present girl mom, staying engaged through reading and puzzles, and embracing creativity and fun with my daughters.
