Angela N. Woodard, MSCJ, MSM, is a passionate author and organizational leader based in the Chicago area . With dual Master of Science degrees in Management, specializing in Organizational Leadership and Change, and in Criminal Justice from Colorado Technical University, Angela combines her expertise in leadership, program management, and community development to drive meaningful initiatives. Her work emphasizes fostering resilience, growth, and opportunity within the communities she serves. In 2024, Angela channeled her personal journey into authorship with the release of her book, A Blaze of Virtue, written in memory of her late son Damien. The book, available on Amazon, explores themes of grief, healing, and perseverance, reflecting Angela’s deep commitment to turning personal challenges into sources of inspiration and guidance for others. Beyond her writing, Angela has served as one of the Board of Directors for The Alliance for Human Services (AHS) and has held leadership roles, including Supportive Housing Program Manager at PADS Lake County , Peer Support Supervisor at Nicasa Behavioral Health and Intake Therapist at Compass Health Center. She is recognized for her collaborative approach, organizational acumen, and dedication to empowering individuals and communities through education, mentorship, and advocacy.

I attribute my success to my children, who inspire me every day to be better and do better.

The best career advice I’ve ever received was from an executive director who encouraged me, reminding me that I have a lot to offer.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is to follow your passion—when you love what you do, it never feels like just clocking in.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in my field right now is maintaining clear and healthy boundaries; it comes naturally being empathetic.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me in my work and personal life are being true to myself and following my heart. I cherish my family—four children and two grandchildren—love traveling and spending time on the water and am focused on completing my PhD by 2026 or early 2027 as I prepare for a new chapter in Orlando, Florida.
