Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my commitment to personal growth and healing. The intentional internal work I have done has strengthened my self-awareness, resilience, and emotional intelligence, allowing me to show up authentically and effectively for those I serve.

By investing in my own development, I am better equipped to guide my clients with empathy and clarity, and I strive to model resilience, growth, and strength for my children each day.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Focus on the vision, the purpose, and the impact you want to make—don’t let uncertainty about the process stop you from starting. The “how” reveals itself through action, persistence, and problem-solving. When you stay committed to the outcome and trust your ability to figure things out along the way, opportunities and solutions begin to align.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this industry is simple: never sacrifice your dream for anyone. Stay true to your vision and pursue the work that brings you joy and pride. The right opportunities—and the right people—will align with your purpose.

If someone is meant to be in your life, they will encourage you to go after your goals, not hold you back from them. Surround yourself with individuals who support your growth, celebrate your ambition, and challenge you to become the best version of yourself.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest opportunities in my field is the gap in research and specialized training, particularly around domestic violence and its long-term psychological impact. There is meaningful space to contribute to knowledge and improve how counselors are equipped to support survivors.

I hope to help bridge that gap by pursuing doctoral-level research, writing books, and developing training programs that provide practical, evidence-based resources for professionals in the field.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are authenticity, competency, and self-awareness. I believe in showing up genuinely and aligning my actions with my values, while continuously engaging in professional development to ensure I am informed, skilled, and growing.

I am also deeply committed to lifelong learning—especially given the significant gaps in research and training within my clinical areas of interest. I aspire to contribute to the field through advanced study, writing books, and developing courses for counselors, particularly in the area of domestic violence, to help strengthen knowledge and professional practice.
