Yes
Finding Hope and Humanity in a World of Rejection
Why Do We Say Yes?
I know why I do… do you?
I say yes to the small, little soul inside the big, mean questions. I say yes to the slivers of hope in people that no one else sees.
I say yes because I know how it feels to be told, “No, no, no…” when sometimes all you need to hear is, “Yes, I hear you. I see you. I understand you.” No debate, no criticism, no arguments—just raw, yes.
Because in a world where:
“And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man in the moon
‘When you coming home, dad?’ ‘I don't know when
We'll get together then, you know we'll have a good time then’…”
In a world of “No,” I will always be my brother’s keeper of the word “Yes.”
I’ve watched men bleed their hearts and souls into the calluses on their hands next to a wife so clouded by chemicals that they make the perfect pair.
That’s why I say yes—because in a world full of “No,” you can find hope in knowing there are still people who will happily say “Yes,” even if it’s their last yes.
Cheers, America. Be good. (Or good at it…)
Love you! And wear your seat belt.
