It’s Okay to Start Over
Finding Courage in New Beginnings: Why Starting Over Is an Act of Strength, Not Failure
As a kid, everyone expects you to move through phases—sports one year, art the next, dreams that continue to change. That’s called learning. But somehow, the moment you turn 18, everyone flips the script and expects you to have it all figured out: who you are and where you’re headed for the rest of your life. For some people, that path fits neatly. For others, it never does—and that’s not a failure.
I’ve lived many lives in my 47 years. Different chapters, different versions of myself, different dreams that made sense at the time. Each life taught me something I couldn’t have learned any other way. I learned that starting over wasn’t a step backward; it was growth. It was listening when life nudged me in a new direction and having the courage to answer.
Starting over doesn’t mean you quit. It means you’re brave enough to choose yourself again—as many times as it takes. Reinvention isn’t weakness; it’s resilience. So if you’re standing at the edge of a new beginning, unsure and maybe a little scared, know this: it’s okay to start over. Just don’t give up.
